Kerry had been diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) in January of 2007. Within a short period of time he lost the ability to play the fiddle. He was considered among the best contra dance fiddlers in the country, and indeed had the respect of everyone else in that league. He brought joy to dancers from coast to coast.
He found common ground with many people in his love for nature, (and also his love for good coffee).
Being a perfectionist, Kerry was reluctant to reissue his recordings, which had long been out of print. He finally agreed to let this happen. Hand crafted reissues of his two albums were generously provided by Tom Daly at Crooked Cove Records, and all proceeds went to Kerry.
Please go to the Recordings page to order the recordings.
Now that Kerry has passed, the intention is to use the revenue from future CD sales, along with donations from other sources, to establish a music scholarship in his name. When the details of this are finalized (soon) we will be providing updated information here.
Anyone who ever heard Kerry play knew they were experiencing something unique and beautiful. He played with great energy, as befits a good contra dance fiddler, but he was also able to make the fiddle sing in a way that few others can. Even now just listening to the recordings, there is truly a spiritual energy about the music.
